As the world slowly opens up after months of COVID-19 travel restrictions, Greece is officially opening and welcomes all tourists for summer 2021, on May 14th.
Tourism opens to those who have been vaccinated or tested negative for COVID-19 72 hours before arriving.
Like last year, all tourism enterprises will follow strict health protocols.
Giving priority to the safety for both locals and travelers, the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the “Blue Freedom” plan which anticipates the vaccination of some 700,000 islanders with the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine until the end of June and includes the establishment of mobile medical units and public health facilities to meet that needs.
Meanwhile, Greece was awarded for its efforts in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic and safely re-opening to tourists by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) during a special ceremony on the sidelines of the WTTC’s annual global summit, which took place in Cancun, Mexico on April 27th.
